Letter from the Chair
David Stevenson, PhD, became the Chair of the Department of Health Policy officially in September 2023 after serving as interim chair since June. He was one of the first faculty to join the Department when it was founded in 2013.
Impact
Over the past 10 years, our faculty have been instrumental in important policy decisions, from our state Capitol in Tennessee to the halls of Congress.
Research
Our faculty have a diverse set of research interests from Medicare and Medicaid to infectious disease surveillance and global health.
Academics

Our mission is to inform health policy and improve health and health care through research, education, and service.
Our Department brings together a diverse group of scholars devoted to informing evidence-based health policy solutions with broad influence. We collaborate with local, state, and federal health agencies and build relationships with frontline policymakers to tackle our nation’s most pressing health care challenges.
